What is Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy?

Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy is the rehabilitation of the pelvic region, including low back, pelvis, and hips.  Our practice collaborates with pelvic floor physical therapy and offers Botox® injections to the pelvic floor to relieve pelvic floor pain. Botox®  is an injectable containing a neurotoxin. It treats pelvic floor dysfunction, which can arise as you get older and approach menopause or other pelvic floor conditions which we treat and manage (hugh tone pelvic floor dysfunction).

Pelvic floor physical therapists have the unique benefit of combining their knowledge of the musculoskeletal, neurological and visceral systems as it relates to conditions specific to an individual’s sexual health and general wellness. Often, bodies experience a domino effect, meaning other regions of the body begin to act and feel differently as a compensatory mechanism. There may also be a mental aspect to pelvic pain and dysfunction, as chronic pain is described by many as frustrating, restrictive, invisible to others, intrusive in relationships, and shame evoking.
